Data Classification – the Four Protection Classes
The classification helps to handle data securely. No special protection measures are required for Class 0 and Class 1. However, such measures are necessary for Class II and Class III.
The Data Classification Directive
The University of Basel is involved in a wide range of research, teaching and services, generating and sharing vast amounts of information. While this creates significant opportunities, it also introduces potential risks.
To safeguard sensitive data, the University of Basel has introduced a clear directive on data and information classification which enters into force on 1 October 2025.
The NMC produced seven films to explain these guidelines. These films are used for training and as part of a mandatory self-study course on ADAM.
